The Burke Center for Ecosystem Research was honored to host Gov. Tony Evers during his recent Earth Week tour across Wisconsin. The visit brought attention to ongoing efforts statewide to address the climate crisis and protect and conserve natural resources.
During his stop at the Keystone Bluff restoration site on North Fish Creek, the governor learned more about the Burke Center's work to reduce excess sediment from entering Lake Superior and restoring critical fish habitat in cold water streams. These efforts help preserve water quality and protect the region’s delicate ecosystems.
The visit also highlighted the importance of collaborative conservation, as the Burke Center continues partnering with local communities and organizations to restore and sustain natural landscapes in the town of Keystone and beyond.
